Kind Words from a Fellow Author

What an honor to be cited as an example of an author who does the necessary research, by Louise Dawn Writer. It is so important to me to do my settings justice. I will get things wrong, but I will always, always try my best to be accurate and show respect for both my readers and the places I write about by doing my homework.

When I’m writing about a place I’ve never been or a topic I know little about, I think about how I feel when I read someone writing fictional archaeology and they get the profession wrong ( ::cough:: treasure hunters are not archaeologists). The moment I read that, I wonder what else the author didn’t bother to research? I’m no longer trusting the author to tell me plausible story. I ask myself if someone from Djibouti or DR Congo read my books, would they want to throw it against the wall? I hope instead they’ll think, “Well, at least she tried.” ?
