The Relocated Graveyard That Wasn’t

In the early 90s I worked on a project similar to the one in the article below – excavating graves that were supposed to have been moved decades before. The project I worked on was under the Palace of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco. There were hundreds of graves from the early 1900s and older that were supposed to have been moved when the palace was built in the early 1920s, but unethical contractors moved the headstones and left the coffins behind, building the museum over the cemetery.

To the best of my knowledge, the remains we recovered were reburied without analysis, but I only worked on the project for a very short time and don’t remember all the details.

A Film About Menstruation

Did you watch the Oscars on Sunday? I was happy with some awards and disappointed with others, but there was one film I was absolutely thrilled to see win an Oscar, the winner of Documentary Short:
Period. End of Sentence. ??????

If you’ve read my book, CATALYST, you know this documentary covers a topic close to my heart as the heroine in CATALYST is attempting to get sanitation products for girls in need in sub-Saharan Africa.

A charity I regularly donate to is Days for Girls International, which provides menstruation underwear to girls around the world so they can manage their period and go to school. So wonderful that this documentary is shining a light on this subject and that it won an Oscar!!!???????????

The Thanksgiving Poll

This week I asked for your help deciding which tablecloth color to use for our Thanksgiving meal, and 89 of you voted in this fun poll on my Facebook page!

Eggplant was the winner with 69% of the vote, and ended up being the color we used. My daughter and I decided to alternate napkin colors to so there wasn’t too much dark purple and the touch of sage didn’t overwhelm given that the plates already brought a lot of color to the table.

There were 19 of us around the table and we had a wonderful time! Hope everyone celebrating Thanksgiving this weekend had an equally joyful gathering.
